A NEW supported living scheme in Exmouth has recently been opened
by Mr Frank Norton of Exmouth and Chairman of Signpost Care Partnerships
- Anne Murphy.
The scheme, at Norton Place, Exmouth, comprises six 1-bedroom bungalows,
two of which are built to wheelchair standard, and four 1-bedroom
flats. There is also a 4 bedroom respite care home which has been
leased back to Devon County Council.
The development is for adults with learning disabilities, it is
fully let with local people. It cost £1.1 million to develop
and East Devon District Council, the Housing Corporation, Devon
County Council, and Signpost's own private funders have provided
funding.
Frank Norton said how happy he was with the scheme, that has been
named after him, and thanked all those that had helped with it.
Anne Murphy said, " The scheme has been named after Frank
Norton for his tireless contribution to the community especially
with his support and commitment to the Exmouth in Bloom event. For
us it is such a pleasure to see so many people here and supporting
this scheme including residents and their families."
Devon County Council identified and sold the site to Signpost.
It is to the front of a Devon County Council day care centre for
people with a learning disability.
Ends: With photographs - Residents and guests join Anne Murphy
and Frank Norton to cut the tape to officially open Norton Place.
